Chirayta (Swertia chirata) has anti-hepatitis B activities that would help in the prevention of hepatitis and the destruction of the hepatitis virus in the body. It is rich in secoiridoids and provides significant protection against hepatotoxic compounds. Some urobilinogen is reabsorbed and some amount is excreted in the feces, this helps in the treatment of hyperbilirubinemia and jaundice. It's anti-inflammatory effects on the liver, which help to treat hepatitis or reduce inflammation in the hepatic tissue.
